People are instantly alarmed whenever they hear the word Fats. The first idea that comes into mind is unhealthy and unwanted. Although fats are considered culprits to health matters, a better understanding of the subject reveals more enlightening facts. This article discusses the types of fats and its role in health.

Saturated Fats. Chemically speaking, the bonds of these fats are saturated with hydrogen. On a more popular term, it is one of the least healthful fats. It raises your blood cholesterol level which causes clogging in arteries. The fats include chocolates, cheese, chicken fat, pork, and cream.

Monosaturated Fats. From the word “Mono” this means one, this bond without hydrogen. Ergo, this fat makes you healthier and lowers your cholesterol levels. Examples are avocado, olives, canola oil, and peanuts.

Polysaturated and Hydrogenated Fats. These fats are just as unhealthy. The list includes chips, frozen treats, mayonnaise, and salad dressing.

EFA’s or Essential Fatty Acids. These fats are the healthiest fats.  They can be found in high quantities of fish, oil, almonds, and tuna. Studies show that daily fish supplementation significantly increase fat oxidation.

Increasing Metabolism
